Smoke Sensitive Persons List

Are you affected by smoke?

The Air District is developing a list of persons residing in Amador County that have respiratory illnesses and might be affected by smoke from forest and wildland vegetation management burning.  The Air District exists to protect the health of residents from air quality impacts, smoke being an air pollutant.

BE AWARE

This is a voluntary program
The Air District will not provide notifications
The Air District is only the custodian of the list
The Air District will provide the list to agencies conducting burns
Burns will not be cancelled due to the proximity of a smoke sensitive receptor

Purpose of the list

There are two reasons to have this list:
1.  Agencies conducting burns will be able to plan burns more efficiently.
2.  Persons on the list may be notified prior to a burn that is occurring near their homes.

What a burn agency must do

An agency conducting a burn is required to identify the distance and direction to the nearby sensitive receptors from their burn project and also specify how the agency will notify those sensitive receptors of the burn project and reduce or eliminate smoke impacts to those sensitive receptors.

How is the person on the list helped

If your name is on the list you will be notified by burn agencies when a burn is scheduled near your home.  This will give you the chance to leave the area for the day if you chose or to limit your outdoor activities.

CONTACT THE DISTRICT TO GET ON THE LIST

If you would like to be on the list, you must provide the Air District with your first and last name, your physical address, your mailing address and your telephone number.
